Il nome di un dj sinonimo con Ibiza è quello di Jonathan Ulysses, resident dello SPACE. Votato come “Miglior Club al Mondo” nel 2001 dal Dance Star Awards, è comprensibile che dopo sette anni di residenze, Jonathan lo definisce “vivere un sogno”. Suonando con mostri sacri, inclusi Erick Morillo, Sasha, David Guetta, Darren Emerson, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox e Arman Van Helden e tanti altri. Jonathan ha anche mixato tre compilation della serie SPACE CD ed è il dj principale del tour mondiale dello Space. Dopo aver finito la scuola, egli formò un suond system chiamato Soul Plus e cominciò a credere in se stesso con MC ragga partecipando a molti clashes nel sud di Londra. Nel 1989 iniziò a lavorare per una compagnia di vacanze a Corfu dove fece molta esperienza e divenne abile con le grandi masse come Dj. Quando la stagione finì, Jonathan ritornò a Londra e lavorò come dj un po’ in tutta Londra, fino all’estate seguente, quando fu chiamato ad Ibiza. Ad Ibiza si è trovato al posto giusto al momento giusto, così Jonathan realizzò la sua vera vocazione….. Portando una piccola valigia di dischi R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, Dram’n’ bass e veramente poca House, Jonathan ritornò ad Ibiza l’estate successiva esclusivamente per fare il Dj. Egli andò a lavorare per un amico che dirigeva un piccolo club e per i successivi 6 anni fu “la palestra” di Jonathan, dove egli perfezionò la sua tecnica di miraggio ed entrò nella mentalità del music business. Questo club grazie alla presenza di Jonathan, al suo modo di interpretare il MC, al suo ballare sul bar, alla sua varietà musicale, divenne uno dei migliori posti da frequentare, dove egli suonava la musica più cool tutte le notti in locale sempre pienissimo. Questo risultato portò Jonathan a suonare nei maggiori Club dell’isola: Amnesia, Pacha, Es Paradis, El Divino, Privilegi e certamente lo Space. Egli suonò anche in bar come BAR M, The rock bar, Mambo, Kanya, Star Cafe e Savannah. Nel 1998 Jonathan iniziò ad essere il dj resident del Twice as Nice per piccoli promoters di Londra, il resto come si dice, è storia…. Sebbene Jonathan raggiunse una stellare reputazione come dj house, ma il suo stile non si limita alla sola house, egli è eclettico. Egli descrive il suo stile house come un vero “pompaggio” con musica elettronica. Durante i suoi 16 anni di carriera, ha suonato ogni genere di dance music. Il suo obbiettivo è quello di educare anche le grandi masse suonando non solo musica commerciale, ma rompendo i confini per ottenere grandi consensi. Per esempio nell’estate 2003 Jonathan fu nominato Miglior Dj d’Ibiza da DJ Magazine. Mai visse per tanto tempo nello stesso posto e quindi non ebbe mai un regolare show radiofonico, ma le sue apparizioni (in radio) furono tante in show come Galaxy (Manchester e Bristol), Kiss 100, Ministry of Sound, Key 103, Thump Radio (San Francisco), Radio 1 e The Essential Mix di Pete Tong. Molte sono anche le sue produzioni discografiche che lo hanno visto lavorare con Tom Neville, Good Rhyming Bass on Nukleuz e French producer Laurent C of Paris, 21 st Century Party People on Cyber Records. La sua più recente produzione è con Matt Schwartz, famoso per “the Drill”, ovvero ha portato a termine la traccia “Electro Sex” sotto il nome di “Nine Lives” su Destined Records. Nel 2004, Jonathan fu richiestissimo dopo essere stato filmato live da MTV ad Ibiza, in Germania, Svizzera e Austria per il “Gate to Ibiza Tour” in contemporanea dell’uscita del Cd “Gate to Ibiza”, mixato con DJ Henry. Jonathan ha lasciato il suo segno nel 2005, lavorando da solo allo SPACE come DJ resident principale, suonando nel migliore spazio che il club può offrire per più di 2000 persone ogni settimana, divenendo sempre più popolare, continuando a rompere i tradizionali canoni musicali, divenne uno dei djs house più importanti in assoluto. Lo Space non vinse solo il titolo di “Miglior Club nel Mondo” nel 2001 (Dancestar) e la one-night “We Love Sunday” @ Space, vinse il premio come “Migliore Night Club”, ma anche nel 2005 vinse agli House Music Awards il premio come “Miglior Club 2005” con Jonathan che ritirò il premio e rappresentò lo Space a questa prestigiosa manifestazione a Londra. Nel 2005 Jonathan ha lavorato in tantissime compilation di successo, come ad esempio “In Bed whit Space 2005” album mixato da lui e da Javi Munoz e il “World Tour Album” con David. Jonathan e David, che si possono vedere anche nel DVD incluso nello “Space Album 2005”, intervistando Carl Cox, egli disse: “ Suonare allo Space è come suonare per Dio!” La nuova terrazza dello Space vide Jonathan suonare con Barbara Tucker dal vivo in “Bed whit Space” e fu un grande e storico successo. Nell’inverno 2005, Jonathan aggiunse tante tappe ai suoi tour, includendo Garlands Club a Liverpool, il Pacha a Londra, il Miss Moneypennys a Birmingham, il Kiss da Funk a Leeds e la Grande IBIZA REUNION in Scozia e il Dusted a Middlesborough. Da allora Jonathan non si è più fermato e il suo tour ha toccato tutto il mondo, compresa la Polonia, l’Italia, la Romania, la Germania, Singapore e la Malesia. Così come allo Space la sua residenza è più solida che mai……

One DJ’s name is synonymous with Ibiza and that is SPACE resident JONATHAN ULYSSES. Voted "Best Club in the World” at 2001 Dance Star Awards, it's understandable that Jonathan describes his seven year residency as "living the dream". Playing alongside luminaries, including Erick Morillo, Sasha, David Guetta, Darren Emerson, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox and Arman Van Helden and many more. Jonathan has also mixed three terrace selection sides of the SPACE CD series and DJ’s globally as main resident on the SPACE World Tour. However, Jonathan's career was no overnight sensation. After leaving school, he formed a sound system called Soul Plus and fancying himself as a bit of a ragga MC competed in sound clashes across South London. In 1989, he started working for a holiday company in Corfu where his stage presence and crowd control training served him in good stead as a DJ. Once the season was over, Jonathan returned to London and spent time DJ’ing around London until the following summer, when he was sent to the Balearic Island of Ibiza. In Ibiza, he found himself being pushed to DJ at certain times and events, this is where Jonathan realised his true vocation…………….. Taking a small record box of R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, Drum ‘n’ Bass and very little house, Jonathan returned to Ibiza the next summer solely to DJ. He went to work for a friend who had taken over a small venue and for the next six years this was to be Jonathan’s training ground where he perfected his mixing skills and got to grips with the industry. Jonathan’s presence there, complete with his MC’ing antics, dancing on the bar and varied musical selection transformed the venue into one of the best places to be, where he played the coolest music to packed crowds every single night. This resulted in Jonathan playing stints at the islands’ major clubs: Amnesia, Pacha, Es Paradis, El Divino and Privilege and, of course, SPACE. The bars were no stranger to him either, as he clocked up Bar M, The Rock Bar, Mambo, Kanya, Star Cafe, and Savannah. In 1998, Jonathan started a residency for Twice as Nice who were at the time small promoters from London, the rest as they say is history... Although Jonathan built up a stellar reputation as a house DJ, he still does not like to pigeon hole the music he plays and keeps his record box suitably eclectic. He describes the majority of his house style as very pumping with an electronic and uplifting sound. Throughout his sixteen year career, Jonathan has played every genre of dance music. His aim is to educate the crowd rather than play only the obvious commercial tracks, this has helped him break boundaries and receive the acclaim he deserves. In recognition of this, summer 2003 saw Jonathan being nominated by DJ Magazine for Best Ibiza D.J. Never having stayed in one place long enough to secure a regular radio show, Jonathan has made appearances on various radio shows, such as Galaxy (Manchester and Bristol), Kiss 100, Ministry of Sound, Key 103, Thump Radio (San Francisco) and Radio 1, Pete Tong Essential Mix. He also has an ever-growing production CV (see discography attached). Past productions have seen Jonathan work with various producers, such as Tom Neville, Good Rhyming Bass on Nukleuz and French producer Laurent C of Paris, 21st Century Party People on Cyber Records. Most recently working with producer Matt Schwartz from ‘The Drill’ fame and finishing a track "Electro Sex" under the name Nine Lives, signed to Destined Records. Six years on, 2004, saw Jonathan’s DJ’ing in further demand, when he was filmed live, touring with MTV in Ibiza, Germany, Switzerland and Austria for the ‘Gate to Ibiza Tour’ in combination with the mix CD ‘Gate to Ibiza’, mixed with DJ Henry. 2005 and Jonathan has firmly made his mark, establishing himself at SPACE as one of the main residents playing some of the best set times the club has to offer to a 2,000 strong crowd every week, going from strength to strength and continuing to break boundaries and implement a solid reputation as one of music’s fundamental house DJ’s. SPACE has not only won “Best Club in the World” Dancestar 2001 and "We Love Sundays"@SPACE winning “Best Club Night”, but it has also, at the House Music Awards this year, won “Best Club 2005” with Jonathan representing SPACE and collecting the prestigious award in London. This year Jonathan has worked on a number of highly successful and popular compilations, the ‘In Bed with Space 2005’ compilation album mixed by himself and Javi Munoz and in July mixing the ‘World Tour Album’ alongside David Morano. Both Jonathan and David, can be seen on the DVD accompanying the Space Album 2005, being interviewed alongside Carl Cox, he quotes “to play at SPACE is like playing to God!” The new SPACE terrace saw Jon performing with Barbara Tucker live at ‘In Bed with Space’ a great success story, however, the highlight has to be his much publicised closing set on the terrace of SPACE which has earned him the admiration and respect of many of his peers. This winter, Jonathan adds to an already impressive line up, UK nights which include Garlands in Liverpool, Pacha in London, Miss Moneypennys in Birmingham, Kiss da Funk in Leeds, the BIG IBIZA REUNION Skegness and Dusted in Middlesborough. You can catch Jonathan globally at such clubs including Klub Relaks in Poland, Rock City in Turin, Italy, Krystal Club in Romania, N-Pir in Stuttgart, Germany and next year, Attic in Singapore, Malaysia. Jonathan will continue his residency at SPACE next summer 2006 and in the coming months he will embark on the “We Love” World Tour and the ‘In Bed With Space’ European Winter Tour.
